History

Oklahoma became a state on Saturday, November 16,1907. Oklahoma was acquired from France as a part of the Louisiana purchase. The first people to settle here were the Native Americans. Also, the French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte acquired the land from Spain. By the 1700's both Spanish and French explorers and traders had come to the area.
